Sling Backpack: Right For You?

Sling Backpack

When most people think of a backpack, they picture a standard one with two shoulder straps that hangs squarely in the middle of the back, but a sling backpack is another option. A sling backpack has one large shoulder strap that can easily be thrown over the head to wear in a bandolier fashion across the chest. They tend to be smaller than other backpacks, but can be quite comfortable still.

Sling Backpack Styles for Utility and Comfort

A sling backpack is cleverly shaped so that rests smoothly on your back with the wide strap going over just one shoulder, around the front of your chest, and across your waist or hip to the bottom part of the bag. They are mostly smaller in size than a regular backpack, but there are some large options suitable for even a short camping trip. The best thing about a sling backpack is the convenience and how easy it is to get on and off, and how easy it is to access everything inside.

If you use a regular backpack with two straps, you need to slip both off your shoulders and drag the bag around in front of you to get at things inside of it. To do so, you either have to hold onto the heavy bag or rest it on something. With a sling backpack, all you need to do slide the strap around your body until the bag is on your front. It is supported and completely accessible.
